Unorthodox Career Club + The Creative Camel

During the pandemic I became really interested in social media and it's impact on our society. I decided to create an online platform where I could utilise the skills I had learn from online courses and webinars about social media marketing. I also used this a chance to experiment with content creation through Adobe Illustrator and Canva.

I initially came up with The Creative Camel because I noticed that there wasn't any other Instagram page teaching others about how to get into advertising, how to read and answer a creative brief and talking about the key marketing tools that are employed in advertising.

As I went along my creator journey, I noticed a larger gap to communicate to other graduates like myself whose career had been impacted by the pandemic. I realised that what I had learnt from my unemployment spell would be more valuable to others than trying to teach what I knew about an industry that quite frankly, was put on hold, especially for entry level applicants.

Initially I went with The Creative Camel to signal to the audience that the account was directed at creativity. I used camel imagery such as swirls and curves to keep the brand identity running through all of the elements.

In my rebrand I decided to use more feminine colours to signal who my target audience was and create nostalgic branding based on the popularity of late 90s/early 00s aesthetics and tech imagery which was very popular with my audience at the time.
